Jolene is the Director of LifeWays Healing Arts and has been providing holistic health care to her community for more than 10 years. Currently she is completing her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at ACTCM in San Francisco and practices Jin Shin Jyutsu and Somatosensory Therapies in Berkeley. Previously she maintained a private practice in New York City as a Clinical Herbalist and Natural Wellness Consultant in Union Square. In addition to her practice of integrative medicine, she also has more than a decade of training and research experience in the science of medicinal plants, ethnobotany, integrative medicine and public health.
Since her first introduction to herbal medicine in 2000, she has studied with numerous teachers across the United States, including certification as a Clinical Herbalist with Michael Moore at the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine and apprenticeship with Robin Rose Bennett in the Wise Woman Tradition in New York City. Over the past five years, Jolene has completed advanced studies in Ayurveda, Classical Chinese Medicine, Medical Qi Gong and Japanese Somatosensory Therapies including Jin Shin Jyutsu and Reiki.
In addition to maintaining her holistic health practice at LifeWays Healing Arts, Jolene is also a medical anthropologist, ethnobiologist and documentary filmmaker. Her academic credentials include a Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine and a postgraduate certificate in Biomedical Sciences from Harvard University. She is a Fulbright grant recipient, published author and avid scholar of ecosocial epidemiology, psychoneuroimmunology and the science of mind-body healing.
